disclosures

Curious about my thoughts on advertising, sponsorship, reviews, giveaways and the like? Read on…

[retail recommendations]

Whenever possible, I try to link to an online source for what I mention in my blog – whether it’s fabric, shoes, antiques or a great place to take a class. I will always try to link first to the actual source where I procured my goodies (or inspiration), after that in order (more or less) I will link to Minneapolis-based shops, other independent shops and designers and if all else fails, large online or brick and mortar sources such as Amazon or Joann’s.

[giveaways]

I love a good giveaway and have held them here on the blog and will continue to do so in the future! All giveaways are conceived by me and for the most part sponsored by me (i.e. – I purchase the giveaway item and cover shipping costs.) Occasionally the shop or business where I obtain the giveaway item provides the item and/or shipping free of charge – when that happens, I will thank the shop owner profusely for sponsoring the giveaway and note in the post that the giveaway is sponsored by the business.

I am open to holding giveaways at the request of the shop owner/designer/etc. for products that I would be happy to purchase, use and recommend to others. I love to support small independent businesses!

[product reviews, advertising and becoming self-supporting]

My goal is for The Snug Bug to be self supporting! Costs are minimal and include domain and server fees, occasional design tool fees, giveaway items and related costs and occasional supplies for specific posts. I use the google adsense program to post ads on the site and have been pleased with the ad content of the program – the retailers that are listed are retailers that I like a lot! I have tried to limit ads pertaining to body image, diet, religion and politics – if something pops up that feels uncomfortable, please feel free to let me know! Any revenue in excess of the cost of operating The Snug Bug will be promptly put into the sewing fund and used for the purchase of new materials and perhaps one day my dream sewing machine. I also occasionally participate in the Amazon Affiliate program and any purchases made from click-throughs from the site may result in my receiving a commission. Finally, there may be a day in the future when I kick off a sponsorship program. The purpose in doing so would be to support and promote the independent design community as well as to help support a snug-bug-lifestyle that allows enough time for sewing, writing, posting and all the other fun stuff that goes along with that!

If you have a website or business that you would like to promote through my blog, feel free to drop me a note. I am open to looking at samples and if I love your item and would buy it for myself and recommend it to others I may be open to reviewing it on the site. Any products appearing on my blog will be clearly identified as a review item and marked “courtesy of” the business. I will not accept compensation for sponsored posts, although will accept sample products for the purposes of review.

[comment policy]

Interacting with readers and other bloggers is one of the best parts of blogging! I love reading all of your comments and even if I don’t respond, I’m definitely enjoying them! I currently allow anonymous comments and reserve the right to delete any comments – anonymous or otherwise – that I deem offensive, combative or potential spam.
