Nice! I have an Ikea type sewing table, too - not the top, though. The top is the door I took off of my sewing room! I just whacked it on two antonious units with the new white plastic drawers. One unit holds my sewing stuff, the other my computer stuff (it's a craft room/study) and I've got more antonius units for my fabric, etc. I also have room for a couple of clear plastic tubs of fabric under the desk. It's not the prettiest, but it's at least visually clean-ish, and I already had all the things! One day I will have a huge sewing room with a fancy cutting island, etc, but for now I have a teeny room with a door desk. I still love it.

My whole house is fairly poky, and I live near a factory so it's dusty too. Maybe a skirt would be a good idea for me? I usually feel as you do - nice idea, fussy in practice, but I like the simple drop sheet one. Probably my computer desk could do with one! So many cables...

**Shhh! I'm still in hiding from the community right now, but I wanted to comment on your sewing room. It's looking so lovely, and I really like how your table skirt turned out. I actually attached a skirt to my old bathroom sink using velcro (sticky on the porcelan side, regular sewn in on the fabric side - my local fabric store sold each side individually at only a couple bucks a metre), shown here:
http://sewingonpins.blogspot.ca/2011/11/too-many-projects-homg.html

But I like your solution better because you can actually push it aside to get at storage underneath. And it looks like you're making good use of that storage space!

While I'm looking forward to your sewing posts again, I've really been enjoying watching how you put your home together. Thanks for sharing with us!

That's actually impressive of you to think about 'dressing' your table. :) It looks neat and clean plus, yeah, the fact that you can hoard things underneath without other people knowing is fabulous.

Your table looks fabulous - I'm completely jealous of all that space for sewing and I love the idea of using the unit as a really sturdy centre pillar - whenever I machine quilt on our dining room table it sort of shakes itself around!

And as for the Jubilee - have pity on us poor Brits; it's only the second one we've had EVER, you get 4th July every year! Oh and just wait until the Olympics start...

oh wow! I"m so jealous! I love the table-- it looks like an awesome workspace to have. I'm impressed by your ability to have it in plain view-- my sewing table is never so neat.
