Fall palette and all these challenges!

Greetings you cool little fonzies! Today’s post is super duper quick and housekeeping in its orientation. My, that was businesslike, wasn’t it!

First up! Also second up – I was SUPER STOKED to see that Sarai at Colette is doing a fall palette challenge, since that’s what I was doing on my own, inspired by the big fun I had doing the spring challenge! Who’s doing it? Who? Tell me!

To celebrate I finished my last little drawings for my fall plan (the two tops with hot pink) and threw everything together on one board. Then I giggled. I was feeling the 70′s when I put together the board, but clearly slid back 20 years when choosing the patterns! Ah well – circumstances changed after I initially put together the board – I went back to work! I need to get me some separates that will work for my casual work environment. And what works better for the casual winter wardrobe than a cap sleeve hot pink jersey dress? What, I ask you?

At least the palette came through. A bit. Gold and pink are really two of my favorite things.

Agenda items #1 and #2 – updated fall sewing plan and Colette fall palette challenge participation – have been covered, let’s move on to agenda item #3, ok? Great.

Self Stitched September. Ah, it’s back. This feels like a blog-o-versary to me, as it was really last year during SSS that I got to know some of the other awesome sewing bloggers out there and I stepped up my OWN blogging! I wasn’t going to participate this time around. Partially because I had a hard time keeping up for the last challenge and partially because it’s not as much of a big deal for me to struggle to wear all self-stitched stuff, since I rarely wear RTW. But I love the sense of community so I’m going to make an effort. Again, who’s doing it? Who? Who?

Agenda item #3 is done. The meeting is adjourned. Next time, will one of you bring bagels?

I’m totally in on the fall palette challenge, but not SSS. I don’t think I can commit to it just yet. All of my kiddies will be in school for the first time next week, that is more than enough challenge for September :o)

    Hi Patty,

I love your palette. I’d like to participate in the Colette challenge as well, but I don’t know how to make my own palette. I have googled the heck out of it, and have found no adequate directions. I know you have a ton of stuff going on with the new job and all, but it may be a much appreciated tutorial idea.

    Happy Thursday,

awwww… by palette do you mean the collage of photos?? If so, I use photoshop, so a tutorial wouldn’t be all that helpful – step 1, buy photoshop! It’s pretty easy to do if you have it, but it takes a while to get everything to fit together if you make different sized squares like I do. If by palette you mean the COLORS – well, I just copied the colors from the gold floral joel dewberry fabric (The one I want to make the sorbetto dress from) so…. step one – plagiarize!! Did i miss anything :-) I think a lot of people use polyvore to make their idea boards – free (I think) and on the web! Or pinterest!

I”m doing both, sort-of. I’m doing the palette, but won’t have my sewing machine for over a month beginning on the 9th, so I’ve already been sewing ahead. I just looked at what I had and then took the most prominent colors to create my palette. I’m totally in on SSS ’11 and I’ll be so glad to see your smiling face in photos there even if it’s not a challenge for you.

Also, I love your piece planning- especially the top with McCalls 6282 combined with the B&W plaid. But where are the GAUCHOS?

oh good lord. Gauchos won’t be covering these flanks any day soon… flow away from my widest part and stop halfway down my leg? I think NOT! You continue to man the gaucho front in your fine manner!

I’m totally in for the Fall Palette Challenge, and I feel like I could do Self-Stitched September too, especially since I am suddenly competent at taking daily pictures. But I hesitate to officially commit. But I have like 15 me-made staples, and 2 more almost done! I probably will go for it. It’s taking an oath that freaks my week.

Ha Ha — can I just steal your palette? I will use other patterns, do not worry, but seriously, you did all the work for me here and I have the fabrics to show if only I could be bothered to blog them.

I joined the SSS and am having such fun getting ready. So much, in fact, that everything else is being neglected. Work, music, housework….all I seem to want to do is sew!

Me, me!! I’m joining SSS even though I had a hard time keeping up in June. There will be a lot of repeats from last time but I too love the sense of community and it keeps me focused on increasing my self stitched wardrobe so will make the effort again.

I love what you have chosen for your fall palette. The colours and styles are fabulous. I was considering this challenge as well but for Spring. Not sure if I’ll have time to put together an inspiration board as my daughter will be visiting for a while.
