{7.14 | petticoat junction}

After many long months I recently got my giant black poufy crinoline back from a friend the other day and I couldn’t wait to actually WEAR it! Lucky for me, I have a couple of full circle skirts perfect for the job! I decided to play it low key with my silk/wool tweed skirt and black polka dots. It was a bit scratchy and pretty funny because my skirts were wider than most of the doors I walked through! I’m hooked. Must get more crinolines!

    As much as I love my ruffler attachment, I don’t think I want to make my own crinoline. But tulle is cheap so you never know.. I was excited to see they have chiffon petticoats too for good prices. I would rather buy than sew chiffon for sure… It’s wanting them in all the rainbow colors that will do me in!

    Yay for the petticoats! I recently bought five yards of tulle to make another one, as my old (ie made in January or so) one doesn’t have QUITE enough oomph (it seems to have squished a bit). Although I still love wearing it with all my full skirts.

    I do feel a little embarrassed wearing them on the train, though. Like I’m taking up more room than I ought to when the train goes sardines.

    Wearing crinolines is one of those things that always makes me a bit giddy–something about having an unreasonably poufy skirt, perhaps? lol. I love your outfit–especially the polka dot top!!! :D

    Awesome! I’ve been meaning to make a black petticoat for ages to go with a couple of items. Love the idea of swishing up against the door frame!
    Reminds me of the panniers they used to wear in Louis XV’s time – where they had to turn sideways to pass through the doorways!

    You know, I’m glad I’m not the only one that doesn’t have any sort of motivation to MAKE their own petticoat. Too much work.
